Abstract:   (67 Views)
The present study aimed to explore the causal pattern of the relationship between transformational leadership, job involvement, health literacy and quality of work life mediated by perceived organizational support. The sample participants consisted of 156 employees of the National Iranian South Oilfields Company who completed the work-related quality of life (Van Laar & et al., 2007), transformational leadership (Carless & et al, 2000), job involvement (Kanungo& et al, 1982), health literacy instrument for adults-short form (Tavousi & et al, 2022) and perceived organizational support (Eisenberger & et al, 1986) questionnaires. For data analysis, structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed to measure the fitness of the model and inspect direct relationships. The mediator relationship was measured via Bootstrap. The results revealed that the model fit well with the data, and all direct relationships were confirmed. Path coefficients indicated that transformational leadership (.44), job involvement (.17), and health literacy (.12) have a positive impact on the quality of work life. Also, transformational leadership (.50) has a positive influence on perceived organizational support and perceived organizational support on quality of work life (.37). The findings also confirmed the mediating role of the perceived organizational support in the relationship between quality of work life and transformational leadership. Therefore, we investigated how transformational leadership may through perceived organizational support indirectly influence the quality of work life. Given the importance of quality of work life in organizations and the need to enhance quality of work life, our findings have important implications for both theory and practice.
Keywords: quality of work life, transformational leadership, job involvement, health literacy, perceived organizational support
